Our quality policy

At the Fairy Tails we are committed to the high quality of the service and it is at the centre of everything we do.

Quality to us means the welfare and health of all animals in our care and the delivery of good service to our customers from first contact, throughout their stay, as until they go home.

We work to introduce, improve and develop methods to support the quality of the service we deliver;

  • Training and development of staff to be able to apply and deliver high standards of animal care.

  • Continual development of knowledge to maintain an up to date delivery of health and welfare through use of close contact with Veterinary Practices Locally, Membership of Trade Associations, Connections with local Animal College and appropriate magazines and press.

  • Application of knowledge through development and delivery of methods of work.

  • The correct collection, recording and application of client’s instructions regarding the pets in our care.

  • The correct explanation of our requirements (e.g. vaccinations, prices, opening times) in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.

  • Continuous Improvement by a review of when things go wrong/ near miss in order to avoid re-occurrence of errors.

We aim to achieve this with the direct involvement and support of our employees and contractors. This is done through development of an annual strategy and regular communication of progress and results.

Why sometimes training a dog takes time at The Fairy Tails

There are different stages of behaviour development and they cannot be forced upon a dog. They must be developed.

Stages of learning and behaviour development in a dog:

Aquisition

  • Learning new skill.

  • Learning is slow and inaccurate.

  • Reinforcement is not contingent on correct behaviour but general learning mood.

Fluency/

Maintenance

  • New skill is accurate but slow in response.

  • Use of accurate reinforcement contingent on behaviour.

  • Exposure to different stimuli.

Generalisation

  • Retention of skill/behaviour over time.

  • Use of delayed reinforcement with novel situations and practice.

  • Can use and adapt new skill to different environments but slow.

Adaptation

  • Independent, developed and able to cope.

  • Use of initiative to adapt to new situations without support.

  • Able to adjust quickly in different environments.

We deal with complex cases, such as section 3 cases, therefore we ask you to please stay calm, patient and cool headed if a particular member of staff is not available to deal with your enquiry, as they may be dealing with a dog they cannot leave. However, we are always only one email away to answer any of your queries.
