Which dog breed is right for me?

Most breed quizzes exist to tell you that you have chosen wrong. This one keeps the breed you have set your heart on centre stage, scores how it really fits your home, your hours and the space you can get to — and then says plainly which of those gaps we can close for you, and which nobody can.

Ten questions

Find your honest match

Pick the breed you have in mind — or skip and let us match you from scratch — then answer ten quick questions about your home, your week and who lives with you.

How it works

An honest score, then the bridge

You get two numbers. The first is how the breed fits your life exactly as it is today. The second is where that lands once the right support is doing its share — daycare covering the hours you are out, beach and woodland days standing in for the garden you do not have, a groomer taking on a coat you did not sign up for. The second number only ever moves on gaps a service genuinely closes.

Your breed stays the hero

We do not swap your breed out for a “safer” one. The dog you have fallen for stays at the top of the results, with alternatives underneath if you want them.

Some gaps we will not pretend about

A giant breed in a flat, or a heavy-shedding coat in a home with a real allergy, gets no lift at all — because no service or training changes it. The score simply stays where it is and says so.

A guide, not a verdict

Breed traits are generalisations, and where you get your dog and how you start it matter more than the breed does. Treat the number as a conversation-opener.

The thread running through all of it: the right start prevents the problems people pay to fix later. Early handling, early socialising and calm time alone from day one are worth more than the breed decision itself — which is why the results end with those, whichever dog you choose.

If the gaps are real

The support that closes them

A breed that needs more than you can give?

Days at our Dog Day School cover the hours you are out, and burn body and brain, so a high-drive dog comes home settled rather than wound up.
